The Odonata Dance Project Presents
Aspiration: Housewife
In a world where plastic makes perfect and happiness is just a new appliance away, these women should be completely satisfied, so why aren't they?
Aspiration: Housewife premiered at Dance New Amsterdam as part of the 10th Annual New York International Fringe Festival in August of 2006. For booking information please contact Odonatadp [at] yahoo [dot] com
About "Aspiration: Housewife"
Enter a world much like mid-20th-century America, where the women wear aprons and their husbands bring home the bacon - or so it seems at first glance. Meet Betty Formica, advertising expert turned stay at home wife. Meet Girleen, a young lady in love, presented with the opportunity of a lifetime that could turn her plans for the future upside down. Discover the secret of the mysterious Femme Lucida, a woman wise beyond her years. Soak in the vintage aesthetic and find a startling contemporary relevance in this dance theatre piece about femininity and ambition.
